Diane Korte –Diane
Diane Korte, serves the affordable housing community across the nation as a consultant with The Balance Group, Inc. She is a land use planner with over twenty five years of experience in both public and private practice. Formerly, AICP, she has supported all aspects of residential development serving as a development consultant and for local governments as a current and comprehensive planner, federal grants administrator and an environmental planner. She has developed and presented trainings for NeighborWorks®, Next Step®, MHI, the Kentucky Manufactured Housing Institute and the North Carolina Manufactured Housing Institute (now the North Carolina Manufactured and Modular Homebuilders Association, Inc.).
HouseDiane and Larry Korte of The Balance Group, Inc. served as a startup team for Stacey Epperson, Executive Director, as she transitioned from the small, high functioning Frontier Housing in Appalachian Kentucky to a national, innovative hybrid social enterprise, Next Step®. The Balance Group helped build the initial foundations for the national Next Step Network, Inc.

  • Provided scalable technical and business strategies to launch a national organization with virtual structure and operations.
  • Assisted with communications, governance, fundraising, presentations and operations during startup.
  • Developed Toolkits and training for both in house staff and a national network of affordable housing providers.
  • Worked with field staff to create technical support documentation and procedures for factory-built housing done right.
  • Created training curriculum for factory-built housing construction planning and management.

Larry Korte actively consults through The Balance Group, Inc. He serves clients by supporting their technology integration online and in the cloud. He develops and delivers their image and message effectively and professionally. Often partnering with graphic artists, Larry develops:

    • Computer based training
    • Presentations
    • Training manuals
    • Email broadcast systems and electronic newsletters

solar panelsLarry’s housing construction expertise includes: completing a General Contractor’s class and George Porter’s 15 hour Initial Certified Installers course for manufactured housing, remodeling houses for sale, attending home shows and touring factory-built housing production facilities. His current modular home utilizes a ground-source geothermal heat pump, solar PV and solar domestic water. He and his wife were general contractors on their factory-built home.
